Medical costs are skyrocketing.
Brenda Bisesi knows this well. Without health insurance through work, the single mother used to pay her mortgage first and worry about medical bills later.
Dr. Mark Smith introduced her to Access to Care, a program that matches low-income, working residents with a network of free and low-cost health care services. Brenda now has peace of mind that she has access to quality health care.
"It's nice to know that if I get sick, I can afford to see my doctor," she said.
Brenda's not alone. In Summit County, an estimated 22,000 residents are uninsured and don't qualify for Medicaid. A $20,000 foundation grant to Healthy Connections Network will help link them to a network of more than 200 volunteer health care providers in the Access to Care program.
